Parent/child - teacher interviews

Your child's school books will be placed in a labelled zip lock bag in the foyer for you to look through on Wednesday or Thursday evening before your interview.
This is a great way to share some of our work with families, especially if you can't make it in during the school day to see our daily writing.

Remember that in the junior school our school books are just one medium that we work with.

Shared Morning Tea on Tuesday July 1

Room 7 will celebrate the conclusion of a successful term with a shared morning tea on Tuesday July 1st.
Please bring along a plate with something to share when you arrive.

ideas: vegetable sticks, interesting small sandwiches, crackers, fruit kebabs, home baking

A reminder  will be included in this weeks class notice.

Reading over the holidays

Looking for some holiday reading material?

The Elephant and Piggy series of books by Mo Williams are fantastic for beginning readers.

The collection of Dr Seuss books are repetitive and allow children to anticipate the language within the text through the use of rhythm and rhyme.

The July holidays are a great time to visit a library and read.

Our letters to Baby Bear
Last week after reading "Blackberries" by Beverley Randell Room 7 wrote to Baby Bear.
Our letters have been published and will go home every day with our class leader.
In the pack is the early reader "Blackberries", depending on your child's reading ability they might need the reader read to them or it might be just right for them to read independently.
Please spend time reading the published letters to Baby Bear as this reinforces your child's perception of themselves as a writer.

Our New Book, powered by team work

Book week has been so much fun. Today we participated in the Book Olympics. Room 7 answered 10 sets of questions about books, authors, characters and matched the correct quotes to the right book. We had our class leader, Thomas running to the hall to get our next set of questions. When we successfully completed all of the questions Room 7 was awarded the book, "Hush, Hush!" and this book will go home with the class leader each day for the next few weeks.
