Spring is coming and we want to make ice castles ????
Monday September 1
Yes, can you believe it we want to make ice castles. This has come about from our published fairy tales that we created about an ice castle. The class leader is bringing the book home each day.You can help by making lots of ice cubes of different shapes and sizes over the weekend and bringing them to school on Monday in an ice bag or small chilly bin.
We would also love your help. If you are keen to help first up on Monday morning please stay around after our morning greeting time and we will get straight into it.
Things that we need...
- Rubber or plastic small fairies
- Rubber of plastic small monsters, like in the image
- Small plastic dinosaurs or dragons
- Lots of flat plastic trays
- Ice cubes

Quiet, Relaxing Reading
Everyday after lunch we can come into Room 7 and read. We have lots of great books to read. We also have some soft and friendly book characters to read to. Mrs Robertson loves spending time with us and hearing us read. She can't believe how our reading is rocketing forward.

Our Inquiry - reflecting on change in our community
Did you know? St Albans was once a farm. St Albans was named after George Dickinson’s farm, which lay to the south of the St Albans Creek. He had called his farm ‘St Albans’ in memory of his cousin Harriet Mellon, an actress, who had become the Duchess of St Albans.
St Albans School was once farm land. Edeware now named Edgeware was once called Knightstown.
We needed to do some investgating because Room 7 did not know the name of the street that our school is situated on. Sheppard Place was once called School Lane. Some children thought Sheppard place was called The Loop Road because of the need to walk the loop before and after school.
Today we drew what animal we thought would have roamed or lived on the site of Room 7.
Do you have any local history to share with us?

Our Visit to the Canterbury Museum
Thank you to our parent helpers who supported us while we explored the old street and sparked our thought about how life was different over 100 years ago.

Room 7 reviews "The Day the Crayons Quit" voted as a 5 star book by Room 7
A shared writing experience.
In Room 7 Mrs Robertson read the book called "The Day the Crayons Quit". There was a boy called Duncan and his crayons wrote to him. They wrote to Duncan because some of them were tired and some of them were grumpy because they weren't used very much.
Our favourite part is when peach crayon was naked because Duncan had peeled off peaches crayon wrapper.
Our New Maths Song
We are focusing on pronouncing our teen numbers. For example fourteen rather than forty.
