Can you help us to create our new hats?
After reading "Old Hat, New Hat" we decided to create our own hats. Some hats have some very special features. We have discused some of the things that we need...
  • Pictures of flowers from magazines
  • Fabric
  • Ribbons
Some children have some very specific requests so take some time to talk with your child about what they would like on their hat.

We will be very busy on Friday, 11:30am - 12:30pm making our hats if you would like to come to Room 7 and help us :)

We need each child to bring along a spoon and a bowl to help us gobble up our yummy soup.

Contact/Friendship list for Room 7

Just to the right of the blog you will see a form that you can complete if you would like to share your contact details with other families in Room 7. The form will remain confidential to me through the blog but a printed version will be shared with families soon. The aim of the form is to support families with arranging play dates and outings.

Other parents are often the greatest support when your child has started school and I encourage parents of new entrant children to get together for a chat and a tea/coffee. I still have strong connections with families my eldest son started school with many years ago.
A great strategy to manage school if you are ever in any doubt about whether it's mufti day or not is to be able to text another parent and check. I hope the friendship list will help you to develop friendships with other families in Room 7.

Swimming

We are very fortunate that our wonderful school community worked very hard last year to get our school pool up and running for summer.

Room 7 will join with Room 8 on Wedneday Feb 5 for swimming
Pack the togs, towel, goggles and rash top in a suitable bag
The aim of the junior school swimming programme is to help children manage themselves as well as having fun while developing their confidence and skills in the water. For new entrant children this involves supporting children to change succesfully from their school uniform into their togs. When we are in the water we are learning to feel safe and confident in the pool.

We encourage children to wear a rash swim top if possible. This ensures children's shoulders are well protected from the sun while they are in the pool.

You can support your child with the changing process by having all clothing and swimming gear  well labelled.

Over the next few weeks we will swim on Monday/Wednesday/Friday
